Image of Texas Instruments ADS8681 SAR ADC Data Acquisition System The TI ADS8681 is an integrated data acquisition system based on a 16-bit successive approximation (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC), operating at a throughput rate of 1 MSPS. The device features a high-accuracy SAR ADC, integrated analog front-end (AFE) input driver circuitry, ±20 V overvoltage protection circuitry, and an on-chip 4.096 V reference with very low temperature drift. Texas Instruments ADS8681 operates from a single 5 V analog supply and supports true ±12.288 V, ±6.144 V, ±10.24 V, ±5.12, and ±2.56 V bipolar ranges, as well as 0 V to 12.288 V, 0 V to 10.24 V , 0 V to 6.144 V, and 0 V to 5.12 V unipolar input ranges. The gain and offset errors of the AFE circuit are precisely trimmed to specified values ​​for each input range to ensure high DC accuracy. Input range selection is software programmable through the device's internal registers. The device provides a high resistive input impedance above 1 MΩ, regardless of input range.

Texas Instruments ADS8681 provides an enhanced SPI™-compatible serial interface (multiSPI™) to a digital host, while also allowing multiple devices to be daisy-chained. The digital power supply operates from 1.65 V - 5.25 V, so it can interface directly with a variety of different host controllers.
