TDK develops new TFM201208BLE series inductors offering high current and low resistance

TDK Corporation has developed a new TFM201208BLE series inductor for optimizing the power supply circuit of smartphones with limited space, and has already started mass production.
Compared with conventional products, the rated current is increased by 10% to 5.5 A, and the DC resistance is reduced by 22% to 25 mΩ

The key to these improvements is the use of proprietary metal magnetic material technology.

TDK Corporation has developed the new TFM201208BLE series of inductors to optimize power supply circuits for smartphones where space is limited. These inductors are available in 0.24, 0.33, and 0.47 µH versions, and mass production will begin in June 2022.
TDK's latest series of inductor products, with the dimensions of 2.0(L)x1.2(W)x0.8(H), have better electrical performance than previous TFM201208BLD products in terms of current and resistance levels. Compared with conventional products, this series has a rated current of 5.5 A, an increase of 10%, and a DC resistance of 25 mΩ, a decrease of 22%. These parameters are the best in the industry for an inductor of this size. Significant performance improvements have been achieved through TDK's innovative metal magnetic material technology and structural design.
As smartphone performance further improves, SoCs with increased arithmetic throughput will be required, and accompanying passive components must exhibit higher current characteristics. In addition, smartphone designs integrate more and more functions, resulting in an increasing number of power circuits involved. Therefore, the inductor used must have low resistance and minimal losses in order to prolong battery life. The TFM201208BLE series provides much-needed value to smartphone OEMs and also provides the necessary high current and low resistance.
TDK's entire TFM family also features a variety of inductors for automotive applications, including 40 V rated products for electric vehicle powertrains. In the future, TDK will continue to expand its product range to meet a wider range of power circuit needs.
